Solo travel is becoming increasingly important to Indian travelers. One-third of Indian travelers plan to travel solo for leisure next year, according to data shared by global hotel chain Hilton with Skift. This number is higher than the global average of 26%.
Over 50% Indians also try to look for quiet moments by themselves when traveling in groups, Hilton’s data showed.
This is significant given the fact that Indians have traditionally looked at leisure travel as a special family event, highlighting how the attitude of Indians towards travel is changing. In fact, even with family trips, 66% of Indian respondents said they added solo traveling days to their itineraries before or after. In comparison, the global average stood at 48%.
