KUWAIT CITY, Sept 29: Oraiwan Korto, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand, highlighted the cultural significance of Thai street food, describing it as an essential part of Thai culture. She invited attendees to enjoy live cooking demonstrations and sample a variety of Thai dishes, including “Tom Yum” soup, which was added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list in 2024. Korto said this during the “Thai Street Food Festival” organized by the embassy at its headquarters recently. The event aimed to raise awareness about Thai cuisine and boost confidence in the wide variety of Thai food products available in Kuwait.

It attracted a large audience, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations, media professionals, and business representatives. A range of activities were held during the event, including live cooking demonstrations, tastings of traditional Thai street food and desserts, as well as cultural games highlighting Thai tourist attractions and culinary heritage. The embassy also partnered with Lulu Hypermarket to offer samples of Thai products available in Kuwait. The festival reflects the embassy’s commitment to promoting authentic Thai food and products, which are known for their high quality and reasonable prices. The embassy expressed hope that the event would give attendees a chance to experience the street food culture that plays a vital role in the daily lives of the Thai people, and encouraged everyone to visit Thailand to explore and enjoy this rich cultural heritage firsthand.
